the project

context

Sumba Island, in East Nusa Tenggara, is one of areas with the highest solar irradiance in Indonesia. The island has launched Sumba Iconic Island program to achieve target of 100% RE by 2025. However, Sumba still relies highly on diesel power generation and struggles to increase RE share in the grid due to intermittency and grid stability issues.

HDF Energy is committed to support Sumba’s ambition by developing Renewstable® Sumba Power Plant to:

  • Contribute to reduction of GHG emissions from power generation.

  • Reduce fossil fuel consumption and cost of power production.

  • Increase energy and climate resiliency.

  • Support sustainable economic development through provision of clean, reliable, and stable power.
